Don’t try Ice Skating at Rockefeller in your Snuggie.

February 28, 2009

One man was put to the ultimate test recently when he took to the streets of New York donning a Snuggie. For those who don’t know what a Snuggie is, I suggest going here. It is the remarkable invention of a blanket with arms, because “blankets are OK but they can slip and slide, plus your hands are trapped inside.”  The New Yorker ventured around the different boroughs of New York wearing his Snuggie to see how it held up to different everyday activities and how people reacted to it. Turns out he shouldn’t have tried ice skating in it at Rockefeller.

Here are a couple pictures from the day courtesy The New York Times.

All I can say is that this company did an amazing job marketing this useless product; two million have already sold. The Snuggie has also gained a lot of media exposure, including being on The Ellen Show (where I saw it for the first time).
