Snuggie vs The Slanket

February 28, 2009

After doing some research on the Snuggie, I came across its competition: The Slanket. Now the real question is: Should I buy The Slanket or a Snuggie?

Let’s compare them before making the final decision.

  Snuggie The Slanket
Cost BOGO $19.95 + 7.95 P&H $44.95 for one
Tagline “Blankets are OK but they can slip and slide, plus your hands are trapped inside.” “Hello friend-When the cold has got you shivering and covered in goosebumps…”
Colors Burgandy, sage green, royal blue 11 different colors to choose from. Variety for the whole family.
Material Lower quality fleece material. No special microfibers in this Snuggie. You get what you pay for. Made from a higher quality microfiber material that is machine washable and doesn’t pill.
Size Shorter, looks like people may be in a gospel choir rather than curled up in a blanket on the couch. Larger, definitely not suitable for ice skating in at Rockefeller. The Slanket also comes in kid sizes.
Philanthropy No known philanthropy efforts. Donates a chunk of its profits to breast cancer and environmental related charities.
Website. Small, only offers a spot to order the Snuggie. Large website, product information, spot to order, company story, and touching testimonials on people positively affected by The Slanket.

Like me, I think the real ‘blanket-with-sleeves’ fans know the moral and smart way to go is with The Slanket. This is a company that believes in making their blankets-with-sleeves with the highest quality fabrics to keep their loved ones cozy and warm. Owners of The Slanket will also know that while they are snuggled up on their couch, warm in their blanket-with-sleeves, they contributed to the fight against breast cancer and charities to preserve the environment.

What a great feeling to be wrapped in your Slanket knowing you made a small difference in the world.
